Shoes, glorious shoes

It's been another lovely day here, it feels like spring is not too far away.

I finished up an order for twelve pairs of cotton booties this afternoon.

I've also been working on my latest blanket and have done three strips of squares now so it is really coming on (pics to follow soon)

Baby Shawl

Every now and then I get the urge to make a baby shawl....for no-one in particular but just for the enjoyment of creating something beautiful.

I decided that this time I would make a crocheted shawl so trawled through my baby pattern books for a suitable pattern.

I settled on a dainty shell pattern in fine 2ply yarn.....luckily I had enough Patons 2ply in my stash so was able to get to work straight away.....and here is the finished result

I have listed the finished shawl in my ebay shop Precious Newborn Knits if anyone would like to take a peek.
It would make a beautiful christening of home-coming gift for a new baby.

So Cold......

It's been another cold week with snow and freezing temperatures thankfully I have had my crocheted granny square blanket to snuggle under!

I used Stylecraft Special DK in shades of orange, brown, cream and beige...very 70's

I really enjoyed this project as I do with almost all the blankets I make although I am running out of places to put them!

Still Chilly!

Another bitterly cold day today so I am thankful that I am tucked away in our warm and cosy home.

I've spent the morning taking photographs and listing in my ebay shop.  I can't say that I am thrilled with how the pictures have turned out but it is hard to get a good, sharp picture when the day is so dull and dreary.

I am awaiting delivery of some fluffy yarn to start on my next knitting order but I feel at a bit of a loss whilst I'm waiting so I am going to start a small project.  This afternoon will be spent looking through patterns and hunting through my stash of yarn....heaven!

These are the items I've listed in my shop this morning, if you have a moment or two to spare please stop by and take a peek.   Ebay Shop

Still Here, Still Knitting

I'm afraid I have been guilty of neglecting my blog.....life kinda caught up with me!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a great start to the New Year.  I caught the dreaded Infulenza virus a couple of weeks before the big event but thankfully come Christmas Day I was feeling much more 'human' and an enjoyable day was spent with family.

I've just started working on a new crochet granny square throw for the sofa in shades of burnt orange, cream, coffee and chocolate brown, it may take me some time as I am going to make it in my spare time and my aim is to do a couple of squares a day.

The knitting needles have also been busy with knitting orders  and I've been beavering away  to ensure the outfits are ready for the babies once they are born. (pics to follow soon)
It's been  very chilly here today with a real nip in the air.  I cooked a traditional Sunday lunch with Roast Beef, Roast Potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire Puddings with lashings of gravy...it went down a treat!  Homemade apple pie with custard to follow and I was so full I didn't feel like moving off the sofa for the rest of the afternoon...but after a little crochet time hubby and I wrapped up well and went for a walk to blow the cobwebs & the calories away :-)

Crafty Catch Up

It's been a beautiful, warm sunny day and the gorgeous weather spurred me into action and I finally got around to taking some pics of the baby items I've been working on....

A knitted cocoon and hat set...great for babies first photo's

Knitted Car Seat Blankets with matching hats....so cute!

Two Granny Square Blankets....I'm still addicted to making these, I love turning those little squares into warm and cosy blankets

Toddlers Cardigan...I think this would look so cute over a pair of jeans or denim skirt and tights.

and finally newborn diaper covers.. I used Squiggle Chunky for these and love the great colour choices available.

I've listed all  the above items in my ebay shop : Precious Newborn Knits

My new knitting design 'Lara' has gone to be test knitted today so fingers crossed I should have the pattern available in the next week or so.

Still Hooked on Blankets

My craze for crocheting baby blankets is still going strong.  I am hoping to have quite a few ready made for when we hit the winter months and everyone will be looking for soft and cosy blankets to wrap their little ones in.

I found this lovely pattern at the Red Heart website: blanket

I have quite a few balls of baby Aran yarn in my stash and thought this would be a lovely design to try.

My next blanket is going to be something completely different....... I'm going to make it smaller so it will be more suitable for a car seat or pushchair.

Making Stock

I've been busy making stock for my Folksy shop this week.....although I am finding it very slow going on there with only one sale to date...but I suppose it is early days and I am not the most patient of people!

So what have I been making.......

Baby Dress and Shoes in 4ply cotton yarn

Baby Boys Cardigan

I have also been working on a new knitting design called 'Isabella' which is currently being test knitted to iron out any problems before it is added to my collection of patterns for sale.

If anyone would like to take a peep at my Folksy Shop I would welcome any feedback.

Ripple Blanket

I seem to have a craze for crocheted baby blankets and chair throws at the moment.  On our few days away earlier in the month I picked up some yarn in a great craft shop we stumbled upon whilst we were sight seeing  in Rochester.  I thought I would use the yarn to make a throw for the back of my 'crocheting' chair by the window in our dining room.  Done in shades of chocolate, coffee and cream it suits my dining room perfectly.  The yarn I used is a DK weight and I used a size 4.5mm hook.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Courgettes and Crafts

I think these flowers are great, so bright and bold with the promise of all those lovely courgettes to follow. They are so prolific that I only ever grow a couple of plants and usually end up with a glut of fruit that I end up giving away.

I finally got around to taking pics of the baby dress I was making, I'm so pleased with how it turned out so delicate looking

I added some white appliqued flowers to the bodice and threaded white ribbon through each of the cuffs.

Back Home

We're back home after having to cut our trip short due to my hubby tearing the ligaments in his ankle.....we were enjoying a trip to Leeds Castle and he took a tumble in the Barbican area and went right over on his ankle.  Needless to say he was in a lot of pain but thankfully the staff at the Castle were wonderful and got him sorted out with an ice pack to bring down some of the swelling (his ankle looked like a football) the kindly steward then bandaged the ankle and supplied us with a wheel chair so we at least got to see inside the castle (pics to follow when uploaded from camera)

I'm feeling quite tired this evening as I had to do the 260 mile drive home....hubby normally does the driving but it was his turn to be chauffeured by me today.  I made a start on the unpacking and have done the first load of washing so will catch up with the rest tomorrow.

On a more positive note I did get my crocheted blanket made although I have yet to sew in the ends etc..and hubby's ankle aside we did have a great time and I got to take some lovely photos.

Where Did The Sun Go?

Friday and Saturday where such lovely days but it has been back to the normal gloom and rain today although it feels very warm.

I want to take some crochet with  me on our few days away so have been looking for a suitable pattern to start on another baby blanket.

I found this for a pretty afghan on freepatterns.com.  I love the dusky shade of pink that has been used with the white but don't have anything similar in my stash.

I am currently on a self imposed yarn buying ban so I've decided to make it in simple baby pink and white which I have oodles of.  The blanket is made up of 40 small individual squares joined together for the centre piece with a deep border.

I'm hoping to have the middle squares completed on our four hour car journey and will work on the border if/when I feel like it.

Beautiful Day

The weather has been glorious here today...so very warm and sunny.  I have been making the most of the weather and have been sat out in the garden catching up with my crochet.

This is a spot just outside my kitchen door which has the sun for most of the day...I love to sit here and crochet (weather permitting!)  I finished the little crochet baby dress I was making so once I have added buttons and ribbons I shall take pictures.  I'm pleased with how the design has turned out.

It's amazing what a little bit of sunshine can do...the first of this years raspberries have started to ripen....I'm hoping I will have enough this year to make  raspberry jam.

Problem Sorted!

I think I have found the solution to my problem of not being able to comment on both my own and others bogs...I've swtiched to using Google Chrome and fingers crossed this seems to have solved the problem...yeahhh!!!

Hubby and I are going away for a few days next week so I've been busy washing, ironing and packing.  I'm really looking forward to a change of scenery and a break from the daily routines.  Hopefully I will have lots of pics to share with you on our return.

I've managed to do a couple more rows of the baby dress I started a couple of evenings ago and it is looking lovely so I am really pleased with how it is coming along.

I also had a delve in my 'unfinished' box and thought I would complete this blanket that I started a couple of months ago....

It is done in individual squares and joined together with a crocheted border.  I love the creams and pinks together and think it would look lovely in a baby girls bedroom.

I'm going to list it in my Folksy shop on my return.

I also received a lovely email from the lady that I made the grey and white baby outfit for....she was so happy with the set and has promised to send a picture of her baby girl in said outfit once she is born.

A Funny Sort of Day

Well hubby was back to work this morning after the rainy May Bank Holiday, I think he would have preferred to stay at home.

Tuesday has been a mixture of lovely spells of warm sunshine and dreadful rain showers...to me it feels more like April than May.

I changed the bed sheets this morning thinking I would get them washed, dried and ironed...by the time the washer had finished and I'd got a line full of washing out it had started to rain and I had to bring them all in again!

I was looking through my stash of yarn and wool last evening and came across a gorgeous reel of blue cotton which was just begging to be made into something light and lacy....so I got out the crochet hooks and decided to turn it into a baby girl's dress.

By bedtime I had just got down to dividing for the armholes

I am hoping to crochet a few more rows on the skirt part this evening.

I have also challenged myself to try and list in my Folksy each day as I think it is looking pretty bare and I'm sure I will attract buyers if they have more to look at..so....I listed this cute pair of baby legwarmers
